Orleans County Adult Learning Services
Who Are We?
Orleans County Adult Learning Services (OCALS), is a member of ProLiteracy America. A national nonprofit organization of volunteers who provide free instruction to adults who want to learn to read,
write or improve basic skills.

OCALS recruits and trains tutors to teach Basic Literacy or English as a Second Language skills to these individuals enabling them to achieve personal goals through literacy. We provide goal-oriented tutoring, one-to-one or in small groups, at no charge to the student.
 
All services provided are strictly confidential. 

 

PACT:  Parent and Child Together Time
This program is designed to help adults:
*improve their literacy skills while developing their ability to bring     
  literacy into the home.
*develop improved interaction with their child as they learn to read.
*develop new family patterns.
*develop a positive attitude toward education.
*help motivate their child to stay in school.
*become a more active participant as their child's first teacher.
*become an advocate for their child's education.
*obtain a GED.
*study habits like note taking, and test taking skills.
